Jevgēnijs Čepoveckis is one of the most promising instrumentalists of his generation. He is the winner of the “XXVI Andrea Postacchini International Violin Competition” in Fermo/Italy and the “Oleh Krysa 3rd International Violin Competition” in Lviv/Ukraine. He was awarded the 3rd prize at the “Michael Hill International Violin Competition” in
Auckland/New Zealand.

Making chamber music at the highest level is his personal concern. He regularly performs at prominent festivals such as the “styriarte”, the
“Carinthian Summer”, the St. Gallen Festival, ar|:s:|onore or the Tyrolean Festival. He performs alongside renowned soloists: with Benjamin Schmid, Nils Mönkemeyer, Markus Schirmer, Danjulo Ishizaka, Barnabás Kelemen, Torleif Thedeen, Thomas Selditz or Clemens Hagen.

In 2018 he was awarded the “Great Talent’s Award” by the Wiener Konzerthaus. In 2015 Jevgēnijs founded his own ensemble – the Oberton String Octet – with which he performs regularly. The focus of the ensemble, in addition to performing well-known works, is primarily the rediscovery of rarities of the string octet genre. In 2020 the debut CD was released highlights of the string octet repertoire as well as some premieres.

Born in 1995 in Riga, Latvia, Jevgēnijs received his first violin lessons at the age of four. He received his training at the University of Arts in Graz with Prof. Boris Kuschnir. Further impulses were given by Gyorgy Pauk, Ana Chumachenko and Julian Rachlin. Winner of the Arancio Prize of the 2019 Michael Hill International Violin Competition, Jevgēnijs performs on the violin of Nicolò Amati, Cremona 1645, “Ex Christian Ferras”. This
instrument is on loan from “Rare Violins In Consortium, Artists and
Benefactors Collaborative.”
